He told a special court that he has been facing swelling in his legs because of kidney ailments.

He said that whenever he complained of pain in his legs, the jail authorities gave him painkillers. However, Malik said he wanted a permanent solution to his medical condition.

Nawab Malik's counsel Kushal Mor told the Court that Malik approached the Apex Court with a Special Leave Petition against the Bombay HC order, which had refused to release him from prison as an interim measure.

After Nawab Malik was refused relief from the high court, he approached the Top court. The plea was listed before the court on April 22. It was because of this that the special judge Rahul Rokde of the special PMLA court extended the judicial custody of Nawab Malik till April 22.

Generally, the judicial custody of an accused is extended for 14 days. Even Malik's custody in the last weeks was extended for 14 days.
